![]() Island Cottage |
![]() County Clare |
||||
| Island Cottage , 8"x14": This small dwelling is very typical of the homes on this small island. I saw very few cars, but lots of border collies-the dog of choice. | County Clare, 12"x16": After miles of winding roads, I came to an overlook just above Doolin. You could see for miles and for miles you could see lots of gorse, a yellow-flowered bush much like Scotch-broom. Its beauty at a distance masks the fact that it has two inch thorns, making it unapproachable. | ||||

| Irish Spring, 14'x18": These cottages with the thatched roofs were what I imagined Ireland to be, but only in the cities did there seem to be any landscaping or gardens around the houses. Elsewhere there was only houses with no shrubbery or flowers. The explanation was, "That's an English thing". | |||||

| Irish Boffin , 12"x26": By far my favorite place on this particular trip. A small island no more than 5 miles long, it can easily be walked in an afternoon. But the sights are endless, And the population totally depends on the ferries to bring in everyday items of necessity. My hat is off to the hardy people who live here. I could easily spend a couple of weeks on this small island doing nothing but paint. But I'm sure the fine weather we experienced has something to do with those feelings. It spoiled me as do most fine things. | |||||
![]() Krueger And His Geese |
|||||
| Kreuger And His Geese, 12"x24": On our stroll around Irish Boffin, we came across this colorful character out feeding his chickens. When he came over to speak to us, it dawned on us how many of these people on the outer islands still speak Gaellic, which is impossible for me to understand. When he realized I was speaking about his geese, he shot back in a gruff voice, "Chickens?,-the thieving bastards". Then he turned and walked off. So much for conversing with Yanjijij | |||||
